Cathedral Road Play Park in Co Armagh has been transformed thanks to a £100,000 investment.

The new-look facility was officially reopened last week, with children from St Malachy's Primary School and Naiscoil na Caille Playgroup invited along to celebrate and enjoy the new equipment.

Featuring an inclusive roundabout, harness swing, basket swing and inclusive panels, the park offers many play opportunities for children up to 14 years old. A range of seating has also been added, so parents and guardians can come along and share in the children's play experiences.

Speaking as he officially opened the refurbished park, Lord Mayor of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon, Alderman Glenn Barr said: "Officially opening play parks is always such a joy – and Cathedral Road was no exception!

"The children absolutely loved the new equipment and no doubt it was a hard job getting them back to school for the afternoon! This is another park that the community has been so excited about during the refurbishment and will now be well used for years to come."

This play park refurbishment is part of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council's eight-year Play Strategy, as it actively champions play to help improve understanding of its critical importance to children and young people.

Farrans served as the lead contractor for the works while sub-contractor Garden Escapes – a specialist playground equipment company – supplied and installed the new equipment.
