Uisce Éireann and Tipperary County Council have issued a Boil Water Notice to protect the health of approximately 3,900 customers supplied by the Carrick on Suir (Linguan) Public Water Supply Scheme.

This follows the detection of cryptosporidium in the water supply.

Areas impacted include all customers on the Carrick on Suir (Linguan) Public Water Supply which includes North side of the River Suir as well as Friar Street Upper, Corpse Road, Rack Hill, South Quay and Bridge street on the South side of the River Suir and surrounding areas.

All consumers affected by the notice must boil their water before drinking.

Uisce Éireann's primary focus is and always will be the protection of public health. Drinking water experts from Uisce Éireann and Tipperary County Council are working, in consultation with the HSE, to lift the notice as quickly and as safely as possible. In the meantime, all customers on this supply are advised to boil and cool their water before use until further notice.

Uisce Eireann's Colin Cunningham acknowledged the impact of this notice on the community.
