The Newport Water Treatment Plant in County Mayo is now back to full production capacity following restoration works by Uisce Éireann.

Operational issues at the plant meant the capacity of the water treatment plant had reduced resulting in reservoirs depleting and impacting on supply to customers.

Works are now complete, though, at the plant and water supply has returned to those impacted.

Colin Cunningham, Uisce Éireann, said: "We understand the inconvenience an outage can have on customers, and we appreciate your patience.

"We are appealing to customers to conserve water, to be mindful of their water usage as a small reduction by everyone can collectively make a major difference to supply."
