Belfast-headquartered Reddy Architecture + Urbanism Ltd has officially signed the design and planning contract for the new National Watersports Campus based at Dún Laoghaire Harbour in Dublin.

The contract signing marks a significant step forward in the development of a world-class facility that will serve as the home for watersports national governing bodies, the centre for marine leisure in Ireland, and a world-class event venue.

The multi-disciplinary team, which includes Arrow Architects Ltd, Blackwood Associates Architects Ltd., O'Connor, Sutton Cronin Ltd., Brook McClure Ltd, Atkins Realis Ltd, Michael Slattery Associates Ltd, and M-CO Ltd, will be responsible for designing, securing planning, and foreshore consent for the project.

After signing the contract, Frank Curran, Chief Executive, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, said: "We are thrilled to be working with the design team to bring this project to life. The National Watersports Campus Project will not only benefit the local community but also provide a world-class venue for watersports enthusiasts and athletes. We look forward to the positive impact it will have on the watersports community in the area."

This collaboration between Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, Irish Sailing, Diving Ireland, and the Dún Laoghaire Harbour Waterfront community aims to enhance participation in watersports by providing new facilities such as an events slipway, NGB office/events centre, improved high performance sailing facilities, training & maintenance building in the Coal Harbour and improved launching facilities in the Gut behind the West Pier.

The project has been awarded €852,845 funding through the Large-Scale Sports Infrastructure Fund (LSSIF) as administered by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport, and Media and co-funded by Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council, Irish Sailing and  the Dún Laoghaire Harbour watersports community.
