Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins has confirmed a £390,000 carriageway resurfacing scheme on the A3 Main Street in Moira, scheduled to start on 14 September 2026.

The works will cover the section of road from the junction with Station Road to the junction with Backwood Road, delivering essential improvements for the route.

Kimmins said: "This is a substantial investment which will deliver significant benefits for residents and road users and demonstrates my commitment to improving our roads, which is vital for connecting our businesses and communities. I would like to thank residents, local businesses, and commuters for their patience while this essential infrastructure work is carried out."

To reduce disruption at busy times, a mix of lane closures and full overnight closures will operate between 14 September and 10 October 2026.

From 14 to 25 September, weekday lane closures will be in place from 9.30am to 4.30pm. From 21 September onwards, overnight road closures will run Monday to Thursday between 9pm and 6am. During full closures, a signed diversion will direct traffic via Dromore and Lisburn.

The Department has scheduled operations and traffic management to minimise inconvenience; however, some delays are expected. Road users should allow extra time, follow local access arrangements and comply with all temporary traffic restrictions.

Subject to favourable weather, the scheme is expected to be substantially completed by 10 October 2026.
