Minister James Browne hails the Parkgate Pointe scheme beside Heuston Station, with construction due to start within weeks and completion slated for late 2029.

The Land Development Agency (LDA) has confirmed it will shortly begin a major 562-home development on Parkgate Street in Dublin, marking a further step in the Government's push to speed up housing delivery and expand affordable supply in high-demand urban areas.

Delivered in partnership with Castlethorn, the project sits adjacent to Heuston Station and features Parkgate Pointe, a 30-storey, 102-metre tower that is expected to become Ireland's tallest building. Works are due to commence in the coming weeks, with the scheme targeted for completion in late 2029.

Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, James Browne TD, said: "This development demonstrates the scale of ambition now being delivered through the Government's housing programme. Backed by record levels of investment for the Land Development Agency, projects such as Parkgate Street are helping to unlock strategically located sites and deliver thousands of new homes where they are needed most.

"The fact that Ireland's tallest building will form part of a major new housing development is a powerful symbol of our determination to increase housing supply and build vibrant new communities in our cities."

The scheme comprises four interconnected apartment blocks, with Parkgate Pointe as its landmark centrepiece. Homes will be within easy reach of Dublin City Centre, Phoenix Park, Kilmainham, the Liberties and Stoneybatter, with nearby amenities and multiple transport links including walking and cycling routes, the Luas Red Line, Dublin Bus services, Irish Rail's Intercity network and access to the M50.

The investment showcases how the LDA is unlocking large-scale housing that might otherwise stall. Through its Project Tosaigh initiative, the LDA partners with private developers to accelerate delivery and increase supply, ensuring homes are provided at affordable and secure cost-rental rates.
