Uisce Éireann will carry out overnight connection works in Sandyford as part of its ongoing programme to upgrade the local water network, and is advising customers in Sandyford and nearby areas to prepare for temporary supply impacts.
Customers in the western section of Sandyford Business Park will experience a disruption to supply during the operation, while those in Stillorgan, Kilmacud, Deer Park, Goatstown, Drummartin, Merville and surrounding areas may have low pressure or short interruptions from 8pm on Wednesday, 28 October until 6am on Thursday, 29 October.
This is the first of two major connections for the project, with the second and final link scheduled for early November.
The work forms part of a €5.2 million investment in the Sandyford network, which has already delivered 920 metres of upgraded water mains along Carmanhall Road, Blackthorn Road and Burton Hall Road.
The upgrade is designed to strengthen the network, increase supply capacity and support future growth locally, enabling the potential development of up to 5,700 new homes.
Uisce Éireann's Michael McManus said: "These works form part of the final stage of a significant investment in Sandyford's water infrastructure and will support a more resilient and reliable water supply for the Sandyford area." He added: "We know any disruption to water supply can be inconvenient. That's why we're carrying out these works overnight, when demand is lower, and we'll be working to complete them as quickly and safely as possible. We'd like to thank customers for their patience and understanding while this work is carried out."
While many customers will see supply return soon after the works finish, water pressure can take several hours to recover across the network, particularly for properties on higher ground or at the network extremities.
Supporting customers, especially those who may be more vulnerable during service interruptions, remains a priority. Registered vulnerable customers receive direct communications from Uisce Éireann for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.
