The venue now boasts 14,300 seats, formally offering a 8,500 capacity,
The building was a former train shed and has managed to retain much of the original 130-year-old design.
Tonight the Dublin O2 will play host to X Factor runners-up JLS, Boyzone, Shayne Ward and girlband The Saturdays, as well as international stars Enrique Iglesias and Anastacia.
The performers have been lined up to celebrate the annual Childline concert.
