Primark Signs With Quinlan Private For Barcelona Shopping Centre

Dublin-based retailer Primark has signed a deal with Irish property investment group Quinlan Private to open a 3,000 sq m store in the Diagonal Mar Shopping Centre (DM Shopping Centre) in Barcelona.

Primark launched in Spain in 2006 and now has 11 stores in the country, but this will be its first in the Catalan region.

The value-based retailer, which trades under the Pennys name in Ireland, already operates 187 stores across Europe.

The DM Shopping centre is the largest shopping centre in Cataluna and one of the largest in Spain, comprising around 200 shops in 87,000 square metres of retail space over three floors. The centre also has a multi-storey car park with over 5,000 spaces on five basement levels, as well as an 18-screen cinema.

Fergus Farrell, Director of Quinlan Private, said: "Since acquiring Diagonal Mar, our primary objective has been to enhance its retail and leisure offering, consistently adapting them to the needs of an increasingly competitive market.

"We have recently completed a refurbishment of the shopping centre reflecting our commitment to actively manage our assets to enhance returns.

"Following the addition of Primark to our list of leading retailers, we are now in the process of securing further leading fashion tenants for Diagonal Mar."
