A £200,000 carriageway resurfacing scheme on the C637 Tullydraw Road in Donaghmore has commenced, Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins has announced.
The project will involve carriageway strengthening and the resurfacing of a 1100-metre stretch of road, extending from the Mullaghmore Road to the Tullycullion Road.
Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins said: "This is a substantial investment for the Donaghmore area which will deliver significant benefits for residents and road users and demonstrates my commitment to improving our road network, which is vital for connecting our rural communities. I would like to thank residents, local businesses and commuters for their patience while this essential infrastructure work is carried out."
To ensure the safe execution of the scheme, a full road closure will be in effect from Monday, 7th April 2025, for a period of two weeks, followed by an additional two-week closure commencing on 28th April 2025. During these periods, the Tullydraw Road will be completely closed to all traffic, and a signposted diversion route will be in place via the B43 Mullaghmore Road / Tullycullion Road and vice versa.
It is important to note that the road will be fully reopened to traffic between 19th April and 28th April 2025 to accommodate travel during the Easter holidays.
The Department for Infrastructure has scheduled the works and traffic management arrangements to minimise disruption. While measures have been taken to maintain local access and accommodate Translink bus and school services throughout the duration of the scheme, road users should anticipate potential delays and are advised to allow extra time for journeys in the vicinity of the works. Motorists are also urged to adhere to all temporary traffic restrictions.
Weather permitting, the resurfacing works are expected to be largely completed by Friday, 16th May 2025. The Department has assured that the public will be kept informed of any changes to the schedule.
