John Paul Construction has received approval from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) for its near-term and long-term net zero goals, confirming they align with the Paris Agreement objective to limit global warming to 1.5C and mapping a pathway to net zero greenhouse gas emissions across its value chain by 2050.
The SBTi is an independent organisation that assesses and validates corporate emissions reduction targets against the latest climate science.
SBTi-approved targets for John Paul Construction include:
- A 60% reduction in Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 2033.
- A 55% reduction in Scope 3 emissions by 2033.
- Net zero emissions across the value chain by 2050.
The approval follows the company's recent success at the national Green Awards in February, where it won the Green Construction Award 2026, underscoring its ongoing focus on sustainability.
John Paul Construction said the targets reflect progress under way to cut emissions through renewable electricity, lower-carbon fuels, energy-efficient technologies and continuous innovation. The company adds that it will continue to deliver sustainable construction projects, reduce carbon across operations, support clients' sustainability objectives and contribute to a more resilient built environment.
