Community groups, businesses and local stakeholders across Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown are being invited to submit Expressions of Interest (EOIs) for the Town & Village Renewal Scheme 2026. Funded by the Department of Rural and Community Development, the scheme aims to revitalise towns and villages by strengthening town centres, improving public spaces, enhancing local amenities and returning vacant or derelict buildings to productive use.

The 2026 round introduces a pilot urban town initiative to support towns and villages located within larger urban and metropolitan areas.

EOIs are sought for projects that will: drive town-centre regeneration; deliver town and village plazas; create green spaces and recreational amenities in central locations; enhance streetscapes; incorporate climate action measures; provide infrastructure for markets (including farmers', artisan and local trader markets); upgrade and refurbish community centres; and bring vacant and derelict properties back into use as multi-purpose community facilities.

Two funding streams are available. The Main Scheme supports large-scale projects that deliver long-term community benefits, with grants from €50,000 to €500,000. The Project Development Measure funds feasibility, design and planning for future regeneration schemes, offering grants of up to €50,000. Up to 90% of the total project cost may be supported under the scheme.

Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council will assess all EOIs received and select proposals to be developed into detailed applications for submission to the Department of Rural and Community Development. Application forms and full scheme details can be downloaded from dlrcoco.ie.

Completed EOIs can be submitted by email to [email protected] or by post to: Town & Village Renewal Scheme, Public Realm, Parks Section, County Hall, Marine Road, Dún Laoghaire, A96 K6C9.

The deadline for EOIs is 5pm on Monday, 30 November 2026. Submissions received after this time will not be considered. For more information and to access application materials, visit dlrcoco.ie.
