Camlin Group has announced a major expansion programme aimed at strengthening Northern Ireland's role in energy innovation and digital grid technology. The plan includes an initial £20 million investment from its parent company Siemens Energy and the creation of more than 100 new high-value jobs. The announcement was confirmed at a special event at Royal Hillsborough Castle attended by senior figures from government, industry and the energy sector.
The investment marks a significant commitment to Northern Ireland's advanced manufacturing and technology base. New roles will cover hardware engineering, software development, data science, operations, manufacturing and business support, enhancing a pipeline of highly skilled opportunities and reinforcing Northern Ireland's reputation as a centre of excellence for innovation and digital infrastructure.
The move follows Siemens Energy's acquisition of Camlin Group and is expected to generate wider economic benefits through local supply chain growth and closer collaboration with universities and innovation centres.
Camlin's technologies give utilities real-time insight into the condition and performance of critical network assets, supporting improved reliability, resilience and the integration of renewable energy. Its solutions are already deployed by every Distribution Network Operator (DNO) in the UK and by major utilities across Europe, North America, Asia-Pacific and other regions.
In support of the announcement Martin McCluskey MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State (Minister for Local Energy and Jobs) at the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) said: "The clean energy transition is set to support hundreds of thousands of good jobs and drive growth in every part of the UK.
"The more than 100 new jobs on the way at Camlin and Siemens Energy reflect what that means in practice. Thanks to their investment, communities across Northern Ireland will be well placed to seize the opportunities of the industries of the future, develop new skills and benefit from long-term economic growth."
Peter Cunningham, CEO, Camlin Group, said: "Today's announcement is a powerful statement of confidence in Northern Ireland, our people and our technology.
"The immediate recruitment of more than 100 highly skilled roles is just the beginning. Camlin has grown from a small team of engineers into a global technology business whose solutions are helping utilities around the world build smarter, safer and more resilient electricity networks. The investment will allow us to accelerate innovation, create high-value careers and expand our international reach while remaining firmly rooted in Northern Ireland."
