NI Water has installed a new rotating biological contactor (RBC) at Cabragh Wastewater Treatment Works in County Tyrone, signalling a key milestone in a £2.5 million upgrade of the site. The fully enclosed RBC delivers a modern treatment process and, thanks to its compact footprint, is an efficient and effective addition to the works.
The upgrade is due to be completed in spring next year. Once finished, it will strengthen wastewater services for the local community, improve resilience for the future and help protect nearby waterways, including the River Blackwater.
The scheme is being delivered in partnership with Tetra Tech and DLJ Water — incorporating Deane Public Works and Avove Ireland — alongside NI Water.
