Call For Infrastrata To Meet With Residents Over Drilling Work In Co Antrim

A Sinn Féin MLA has contacted gas storage firm Infrastrata to meet with with the local community over concerns the drilling at Woodburn Forest near Carrickfergus may affect the drinking water in the area.

Mr Oliver McMullan MLA met with protestors at the site today, 23 May, to discuss concerns the drilling may have on the environment.

The East Antrim MLA said: "There is concern also that this drilling could be a precursor to an application to carry out fracking at the site.

"I reassured the protestors of Sinn Féin's opposition to fracking anywhere on the island of Ireland.

"I also told the protestors that I had once again contacted Infrastrata calling on them to meet local residents and campaigners to discuss their concerns."
