Two Northern Ireland construction firms are continuing to prepare a site for an offshore wind turbine facility in Hull.
In a joint venture between Graham Construction and Lagan Construction, work is progressing well on preparing the site for the Siemens' offshore wind turbine manufacturing, assembly, installation and service facility at Alexandra Dock.
The scheme includes infilling one third of Alexandra Dock with 780,000 m3 of material and reclaiming 7.5 ha of the river to create a new 650 metre quay wall.
Construction work involves dredging a new berth pocket, completion of earthworks and surfacing, building internal access roads and service networks, construction of a new Roll-on/Roll-off ramp and demolition of some existing buildings.
The site is to become fully operational by Summer 2017.
