The works on O'Connell Street will result in significant improvements in network performance and level of customer service in terms of supply pressure, security of supply, fire flow capacity and operational pressure as well as delivering significant savings in terms of leakage reduction.

Irish Water confirmed the scheme is on target for completion at the end of November 2016.
New water mains, which have been installed on John Street, have been tied into the existing water mains on John Street, Grattan Street and Harmony Hill. A total of 70 metres of water main has been installed on O'Connell Street from John Street as far as Tobergal Lane.
The project will be undertaken in advance of Sligo County Council's O'Connell Street Enhancement Project works programme, which will commence in 2017.
