Sinn Fein is calling for a "real investment" in social and affordable housing for those people in need.
Spokesperson on housing Carál Ní Chuilín made the call after the party held a Housing and Inequalities Conference.
She said: "Sinn Féin want to work with the Department for Communities, we want to work with the Housing Executive but we need to make sure that they have a plan.
"We need real investment in social and affordable housing for those people in need and we need communities to feel empowered to campaign alongside progressive politicians to deliver the change that is required.
"Right across Ireland communities and families are being denied the right to housing whether on sectarian grounds, on class grounds, on racial grounds or simply because people don’t want them to be there or governments don't want to invest."
