Sinn Féin housing spokesperson Eoin Ó Broin TD has urged Minister Murphy to explain himself immediately amid reports that he plans to remove more categories from the monthly homeless report.
Last week it was revealed that the Minister had asked Councils to remove individuals from their March Homeless Report.
Mr Ó Broin said: "Minister Murphy cannot be trusted with the monthly homeless report. He and his senior officials must come before the Housing Committee before any further changes are made to the monthly report to explain what they are doing."
He added that a request has been submitted for an emergency meeting with the Housing Committee to discuss the recent controversy.
"I have written to the chair of the Housing Committee, Maria Bailey TD, requesting an emergency meeting of the committee to discuss the Ministers handling of the monthly homeless numbers report."
Mr Ó Broin concluded: "We must also hear from the Local Authorities and the Dublin Regional Homeless Executive."
