Bord Gáis Energy Introduces New Service For Decarbonising Homes

A new service aimed at homeowners interested in decarbonising their homes and working towards reaching net-zero has been introduced by Irish utility company Bord Gáis Energy.

The One Stop Shop service, which has been recognised by the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI), will enable Bord Gáis Energy's 730,000 customers to access a full range of retrofit products nationwide, guided by engineers and experts on all aspects of retrofitting and energy efficiency.

Through the One Stop Shop, customers will be able to avail of services including insulation of roofs, attics, floors and walls (external wrapping, internal dry-lining, cavity wall pumping), mechanical ventilation and demand control and heat recovery mechanical, windows and doors and air tightness upgrades.

Additionally, customers can also benefit from the bespoke Hive app which offers a centralised place to manage EV charging and heat pumps remotely.

It comes as Bord Gáis Energy commits to reaching net-zero as a business by 2040, five years earlier than originally planned.

Teresa Purtill, Director of Services and Solutions at Bord Gáis Energy, said: "This is another significant milestone for Bord Gáis Energy's ambition for a greener, fairer future. As we continue on our journey to become a net zero business by 2040, we are enhancing the partnership with our customers on their journey to net zero by 2050 through the One Stop Shop.

"Our engineers have been in Ireland’s homes through our service and repair business for over forty years and we have established a suite of products to support Ireland's energy transition including in Solar PV installation, EV charger plans and heat pumps.

"Now, through the Bord Gáis Energy One Stop Shop service, we can help residential customers to decide on the green energy transition option that works best for them and deliver that end to end. Bord Gáis Energy has the ambition to become the number one provider of net zero services in Ireland."

Teresa added: "We are also uniquely positioned as the only energy company in Ireland to have our own ecosystem with Hive so customers will not only be able to install net zero solutions, but have a fully connected home where EV chargers and heat pumps can be controlled remotely via the Hive app."
