Elliott Group has promoted Laura McCooey to Environmental & Quality Director, recognising her leadership through a period of significant progress on environmental, quality and sustainability performance.
She also becomes the company's first female Director, reflecting an organisation that rewards leadership, expertise and delivery across all areas of the business.
The move follows the publication of the firm's Carbon Reduction Plan 2025–2050, which charts a pathway to Net Zero and sets out the advances already made. Since a 2021 baseline, Elliott Group has cut its greenhouse gas emissions intensity by 39%, from 21.34 to 12.95 tCO2e per €1 million turnover, while continuing to grow the business.
Under McCooey's stewardship, the company has strengthened its ESG credentials through a series of initiatives: diverting 75% of construction waste from landfill in 2024 with a target of 95% by 2027; maintaining certification to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001; deploying the SustainIQ platform across all projects for real-time environmental reporting; and rolling out battery energy storage systems (BESS) on sites to reduce diesel usage and emissions.
As Environmental & Quality Director, McCooey will lead environmental strategy and oversee quality management, governance, compliance and continuous improvement across operations in Ireland and the UK.
Darragh Elliott, CEO ROI, said: "Today, clients rightly expect construction partners who can demonstrate measurable environmental performance alongside quality delivery. Laura has challenged us to think differently. She has helped shape an approach where environmental responsibility, quality and operational excellence work together to strengthen every part of our business."
Commenting on her appointment, Laura McCooey said: "I'm incredibly proud to take on this role and grateful for the opportunity to build on the progress we've made.
"The construction industry is evolving rapidly, and sustainability and quality are becoming increasingly important to our clients, our people and our partners. We've achieved a great deal together over recent years, but there is still significant opportunity ahead. I'm looking forward to working with colleagues across the business to deliver meaningful improvements that support both our projects and our long-term environmental commitments."
Elliott Group's long-term strategy embeds environmental performance, quality assurance and responsible governance across its work in the Construction, Mission Critical and Fit Out sectors throughout Ireland and the UK.
The promotion underlines the company's belief that environmental performance and quality are now integral to delivering certainty, reducing risk and creating sustained value for clients.
