GRAHAM has renewed its partnership with SistersIN for a second consecutive year, strengthening efforts to open leadership pathways for young women in Northern Ireland and to raise awareness of careers in construction and the built environment.
Launched in 2022, SistersIN is a leadership development programme that enables, empowers and develops female pupils to become future leaders. From September, the programme will operate in 70 schools across Northern Ireland, engaging over 800 girls as it builds leadership skills, confidence and ambition while broadening horizons for their professional futures.
As a Growth Partner, GRAHAM will continue to offer SistersIN participants industry insights, access to role models and hands-on exposure to the range of career opportunities available across the construction and built environment sectors.
Research from the CIOB highlights the challenge: women account for just 15% of the UK construction workforce, with only 2% of on-site roles held by women. These figures underscore the importance of initiatives like SistersIN in developing a diverse pipeline of future talent.
Since beginning its support in 2025, GRAHAM has provided a suite of development opportunities, including a job shadowing day with its team and mentor-led sessions spanning finance, legal, pre-construction and engineering disciplines.
The most recent programme concluded with a celebration event at the ICC Belfast, recognising participants' achievements.
Looking ahead, mentors will maintain support through virtual meetings focused on individual leadership projects, ahead of another job shadowing day planned for spring 2027.
Susannah Morwood, Group Head of Marketing and Communications at GRAHAM, said: "This renewed partnership reflects our shared commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for young women. It also provides a powerful platform to showcase the breadth of careers in the construction and built environment sector, helping girls see the range of roles available and understand that it is an industry where they can build successful, rewarding careers.
"Through SistersIN, we are helping to open doors, build confidence and connect students with real-world insight and role models across industry."
