John Paul Construction has been named a founding partner of the Sustainability Common Assessment (SCA), a new industry-wide ESG framework intended to simplify compliance and strengthen sustainable procurement across Ireland's construction sector.
Unveiled at Dublin's Aviva Stadium, the SCA was developed by Supplyo in collaboration with leading construction organisations to introduce a single, consistent approach to Environmental, Social and Governance assessment. The initiative is designed to cut duplication for contractors and suppliers and to improve the quality and comparability of sustainability data throughout the supply chain.
Replacing multiple, repetitive supplier questionnaires, the SCA offers a standardised assessment that makes sustainable procurement more efficient for both tier-one contractors and SMEs.
Key benefits include:
- A standardised ESG questionnaire tailored specifically to the Irish construction industry.
- A shared digital platform that removes the need for suppliers to complete separate assessments for different clients.
- Reduced administrative burden for SMEs, allowing them to focus on delivering sustainable, high-quality projects.
- Greater supply chain transparency to help organisations track ESG performance and support decarbonisation goals.
The launch event brought together industry leaders committed to raising sustainability standards across the built environment. John Paul Construction’s Sustainability Manager, David McKenna, took part in an expert panel discussion that underscored the role of collaboration, shared data and standardised ESG reporting in accelerating the sector’s transition to Net Zero.
As a founding partner, John Paul Construction said it will continue to back initiatives that simplify sustainable procurement, enhance supply chain collaboration and deliver measurable environmental and social performance across the Irish construction industry.
