On 22 July 2026, Team Tullamore Sustainable Energy Community (SEC) will launch its Solar PV Meitheal, a neighbour-driven initiative to help residents install rooftop solar at lower cost by combining demand.
Supported by the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) through the Sustainable Energy Communities Programme, together with Team Tullamore SEC and Offaly County Council, the scheme uses collective purchasing to reduce upfront prices and broaden access to home solar PV.
The collaboration aims to help households cut electricity bills while reducing carbon emissions. By coordinating orders and installation, participants can secure savings compared with arranging works individually, and will gain access to shared resources, expert guidance and SEAI grant supports. This is intended to make the shift to clean, renewable energy easier while advancing local climate action goals.
Residents are invited to an information evening on Wednesday, 22 July, at 7:30pm in the Tullamore Court Hotel. The session will explain how the Solar PV Meitheal operates, outline how bulk buying can maximise savings alongside SEAI funding, and provide an opportunity to speak directly with representatives from Team Tullamore SEC and Offaly County Council.
