As part of the Mountjoy Road/Gortin Road widening scheme in Omagh, a continuous one-way closure will operate on Mountjoy Road between Old Mountfield Road and Killybrack Road.
The initial closure runs from 7.00pm on Friday 6 November until 6.00pm on Sunday 8 November. Traffic will be able to travel into town, while outbound journeys must follow a signed diversion.
This one-way arrangement will be reintroduced for resurfacing on Saturday 21 November from 6.00am to 2.30pm and on Sunday 22 November from 6.00am to 2.30pm. It is expected the road will reopen in both directions before the Omagh Christmas lights switch-on event on Saturday 21 November.
The diversion route will be via B0048 Sedan Avenue, B0048 McConnell Place, B0048 Abbey Street, B0048 Derry Road, B0048 Strathroy Road Link Road and U1528 Strathroy Road.
Additionally, three-way temporary traffic lights will operate continuously for three weeks at the Killybrack Road/Mountjoy Road/Gortin Road junction for civil works commencing on 2 November. Delays are anticipated and drivers should use signed alternative routes where possible.
The Department has planned these works and associated traffic management to minimise disruption and to safeguard both road users and the workforce. Road users are advised to allow extra time for journeys and to follow clearly signed diversions. Access for property owners and deliveries will be accommodated.
Completion is subject to favourable weather conditions, and any changes will be communicated. All work will be carried out in line with current public health and health and safety guidance, with safe systems of working in place for staff and contractors.
