As US President-Elect Barak Obama prepares to take the oath of office in front of thousands in Washington DC, and millions more world wide, speculation surrounding the future of his Irish ancestral has intensified.
Talks have centred on developing a possible heritage centre at the County Offaly site.
The local council owns the Moneygall spot, which was recently put up for sale.
However, Offaly councillors have proposed the sale be withdrawn to make way for a information centre, promoting the town's connection with America's first black president.
Mr Obama's distant cousin Henry Healy, whose family formerly owned the site, said thinks it is a great idea.
Mr Healy said he would be attending the President-Elect's inauguration tomorrow.
