P&O Irish Sea Partnership With H&W Injects £1m Into Local Economy

P&O Irish Sea has just taken delivery of a refurbished European Highlander from Harland and Wolff, highlighting its ongoing relationship with the Belfast shipyard for the maintenance of its Irish Sea fleet.

This relationship has seen P&O Irish Sea spending nearly £1m with H&W on the dry docking refitting of its fleet.

Colin Fleming, Fleet Manager for P&O Irish Sea explained the benefits of using the Belfast shipyard: "Harland and Wolff has a worldwide reputation with ship-owners which is well deserved. Both the scale of operations and quality of their service ensures that our ships are in dry dock for the shortest possible time, enabling us to put them back into service on average two days sooner than if we used any other shipyard in the UK.


"We have been regularly using Harland & Wolff for the dry-dockings since 2006 and, in the current competitive market, the speed and reliability of their work has ensured that we are able to perform strongly and in fact grow our market share on our Irish Sea routes."

The P&O Irish Sea fleet consists of five vessels; European Causeway, European, Highlander, Norbay, Norbank and the P&O Express (High speed ferry).
