A major Irish builders merchants has reported 'stabilised' turnover for September and October.
Grafton Group plc said it had continued to experience challenging trading conditions but the stabilisation of turnover recorded since April has been maintained in last two months.
Quarterly turnover across the group was €470m in quarter one, €520m in quarter two and €522m in quarter three.
Group turnover for the month of October was €174mn.
Overall group turnover to the end of October was €1.686bn, down €661m or 28% on the €2.347bn in the same period last year.
In Ireland, like-for-like sales per working day in October were down 30% compared to minus 37% for the six months to 30 June.
In the period to the end of October, group merchanting turnover was down 21% compared to 24% at the half year, DIY turnover was down 19% compared to 18% at the half year and manufacturing was down 45% compared to 49% at half year.
