Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins has confirmed a £420,000 carriageway resurfacing project on the A6 Glenshane Road at Curran will get under way on Monday 27 July.

The scheme will cover around 1km of road between the Knockloughrim Link Road and Lurganagoose Road junctions.

Minister Kimmins said: "This is a substantial investment for the A6 trunk route which will deliver significant benefits for road users. The investment demonstrates my commitment to investing in and improving our road network, which is vital for connecting our businesses and communities. I would like to thank residents, local businesses and commuters for their patience while this essential infrastructure work is carried out."

Throughout the works a lane closure will be in place with diversionary measures. Traffic bound for Magherafelt and Belfast will be diverted via Knockloughrim Link Road, Hillhead Road and the A6 Dual Carriageway.

A convoy traffic management system will operate for Maghera and Derry-bound vehicles. A mandatory 40mph speed limit will apply across the site and overtaking will be prohibited for the duration.

The Department has arranged operations and traffic management to minimise disruption. While local access will be facilitated where possible, road users should expect some delays, allow extra time when travelling near the works and comply with all temporary restrictions.

Subject to favourable weather, the scheme is expected to be substantially complete by Friday 21 August 2026, and the Department will keep the public informed of any changes.
