A Longford sustainable home heating firm has picked up an accolade at the annual Plan Expo 2009 in Dublin.

Smartheat Limited (www.smartheat.ie) was awarded Design Product of the Show for its Tonwerk Heat Storage Stoves, the second year the firm has picked-up the prize.

The stoves can provide long-lasting comfortable warmth and a constant supply of radiant heat using a single load of wood.

Heat is gradually released avoiding any overheating, which can be a common result of conventional fireplaces and stoves.

An integral storage core made from highly heat-conductive, fireproof stone helps keep the ambient temperature cosy over many hours.

A spokesman for the firm told Build.ie News: "Smartheat are very pleased to achieve this prestigious award.

"The combination of design and functionality of the Tonwerk Heat Storage Stove, offers the energy conscious consumer the very best of Swiss technology, innovation and of course, design."

Smartheat is a specialist heating, plumbing and electrical contractor, and biomass and solar heating systems installer.

The firm's services include Infrared Thermography and Air Tightness testing and Building Energy Rating.
