The Cranford community in Donegal is set to benefit from a steadier water supply as a major investment begins to replace more than a kilometre of ageing water mains. The scheme is part of Uisce Éireann's ongoing efforts to enhance water services across Donegal, cut leakage and strengthen network resilience for homes, farms and businesses.
Under the project, 1.1km of old and damaged mains along the L12122/L1212 at Cool Upper, Cranford will be replaced with modern pipes. New water service connections will also be installed from the public main to customers' property boundaries.
The project will be delivered by Farrans on behalf of Uisce Éireann, with completion expected by Spring 2027.
The works form part of Uisce Éireann's National Leakage Reduction Programme, demonstrating a continued commitment to improving water infrastructure across Donegal and ensuring communities like Cranford have dependable services to support everyday life.
Construction will take place in short sections to minimise disruption. Traffic management will be in place throughout the programme, including a road closure on the L12122/L1212 at Cool Upper, Cranford. Local and emergency access will be maintained at all times.
