A linkage scheme along the M2 to Ballymena will open early next year, the Roads Minister has announced.
Outlining a £12m investment in the region, Conor Murphy said works to connect the M2 Ballymena bypass underneath the Larne Road roundabout to the A26 Ballee Road East dual carriageway are progressing well.
"An unexpected archaeological find, a late Neolithic ring fort, delayed earthmoving, however my department expects the scheme to open to traffic in spring 2010," he said.
The minister said 12.4km of carriageway resurfacing scheme is nearing completion, at a cost of £1.3m, which included 1.5km of resurfacing on the A26 Crankill Road, 2.4km on the B94 Drumagrove Road and 1.6km on the C58 Duneoin Road.
Roads Service Acting Divisional Roads Manager, Deidre Mackle, said a 250m footway extension project from Omco Industrial Estate out to the GAA playing fields on Woodside Road is still to be undertaken.
She also said junction visibility sight splay improvements are planned for the B18 Whiteside Road/C48 Slaght Road and at the A36 Moorfields Road/C42 Speerstown Road junction.
