Vandals have targeted a stately home in Co Sligo that is at the centre of a legal battle over rights of way.
An estimated €1,500 worth of damage was caused at Lissadell House Estate after a large gate was pulled from its hinges and thrown into a nearby river.
Estate manager Isobel Cassidy described it as the latest in a series of incidences of vandalism and trespass.
"There has been nothing for the last four years or so but unfortunately, since the council passed a resolution 12 months ago, trespass and vandalism has definitely increased," she said.
Sligo County Council last year voted to amend the county development plan to provide for the preservation of a public right of way, which the estate owners maintain, does not exist.
