The future of building work on the proposed multi-million euro Greencastle Harbour Project is in doubt, according to Donegal North East Deputy Joe Mc Hugh.
It's emerged that only €104,000 has been allocated for the ongoing work in 2010, substantially less than the €800,000 which local people believe is necessary as a bare minimum to keep the project alive.
Deputy Mc Hugh said this represents a "virtual shut down of the project", which will have considerable safety implications, given that the project was approved on foot of audits which showed the harbour to be unsafe.
He told Highland Radio this week "this constitutes negligence on the part of the Government".
