Local authorities around the country are continuing to impose restrictions on the use of water.
Parts of Dublin, Limerick and Westmeath have been without supply for several days, and respective councils will again reduce pressure today.
Dublin City Council officials say the city's reservoirs of treated water are at critically low levels and that reservoirs will never replenish sufficiently while demand exceeds supply.
At a council meeting in the capital last night, officials said the only viable solution is for those with water supplies to reduce consumption further.
It was also revealed that leaks have yet to be identified, as pressure in the system is too low. The council insisted that no specific areas in the city are being targeted and that supply is not being 'turned on' or 'turned off'.
