Irish Minister of State, Tony Killeen has confirmed that capital funding has been approved for four housing projects in Ennis and the West Clare communities of Tullycreen and Knockadereen, located between Kilrush and Kilmihil.
Mr Killeen said the capital investment would provide some 22 units of accommodation for people with specific categories of need including older people, persons with an intellectual, mental or physical disability and homeless persons.
Minister Killeen said: "I have been informed by my colleague, Michael Finneran, Minister for Housing and Local Services, of his decision to approve funding that will allow for the provision of 12 units of accommodation at Cahercalla, Ennis (Cuan an Chlair Ltd), six units of accommodation at Glensheen, Gort Rd, Ennis (Banner Housing), and four units of accommodation at Tullycreen and Knockadereen (RRI).
"I would like to compliment Clare County Council and the respective Housing Associations for working together on these proposed Schemes, which will provide much needed units of accommodation for disabled persons in Ennis and West Clare."
He continued: "The approved housing bodies play a key role in delivering housing and related supports for people with disabilities, working in partnership with Clare County Council and mainstream services providers like the HSE. These housing associations provide practical and functional support to people with specific categories of housing need to live contentedly and independently in their community."
Yesterday, Michael Finneran announced a significant capital investment of over €157m for a range of housing projects countrywide.
