Teri Hayes has been announced as President of the Irish Association of Hydrogeologists (IAH Irish Group), the organisation that promotes and develops the science and engineering of groundwater.

Teri, also an Environmental Services Director at WYG Ireland, said: "I am honoured to be elected as President of the IAH and hope that I, with the support of our newly elected committee can uphold the high standards set by previous committees and make substantial progress over the course of the next year.

"Our team is made up of individuals from various professional backgrounds including academic bodies, state agencies and private consultancies and together, we have an important role to play in providing information on progresses in hydrogeology and improving recognition of the need to involve hydrogeologists in resource management, infrastructure development and research programmes, to ensure adequate protection for Irish aquifers."
