Taoiseach, Brian Cowan, was on hand recently to open the final section of the new Dublin to Cork motorway.
The project cost €500m to complete and has been under construction for three years.
The road will bypass the towns of Abbeyleix, Durrow and Cullahill, enabling motorists to shorten their journeys by up to 45 minutes at peak times.
NI Road Minister, Conor Murphy has joined others in welcoming the new motorway, which will also benefit commuters in the north of Ireland.
