The beleaguered building trade is set for a fillip in Limerick if a major new €12 million centre that is being planned comes to fruition.
With the aim of helping to 'make dreams come true for sick children' the centre is expected to be underway in Limerick in the coming years.
The Share a Dream Foundation, a Limerick-based charity that makes helps sick children, carried forward a tax-free profit of €1.6 million last year, the latest accounts reveal with the money now to go towards the construction of a major new holiday village and fun park for sick and disabled children from all over Ireland.
The village, which will be called Dreamland, will include six holiday homes and will be the first of its kind in Europe.
The cost of making a 'dream come true' can vary from a couple of hundred euro to a couple of thousand euro, and ranges from trips to Disneyland to meeting sporting idols.
The charity received donations of over €352,479 in 2009, up nearly 25% on donations received in 2008 and the company had a net profit of €144,850 last year and carried forward a retained profit of €1.6 million after April 30, 2009.
