Detailed plans have been submitted to Kildare County Council by the National University of Ireland Maynooth for the construction of a new student accommodation block.
The development is for the North Campus, with the expected total floor area of the complex to be around 13,000 square metres and comprise 77 student apartments.
These will comprise 65 five bed units, six six bedroom units, six three bedroom duplex units and a residents office, student social room, retail unit, bicycle store all arranged in four courtyard buildings ranging in height from nine, five, four and three-storeys.
The development includes the realignment of the existing playing fields, the provision of additional 18m high floodlights to the playing fields and the construction of new perimeter fencing (2.4m high) to the playing fields.
The development will also include an energy centre (containing water storage tanks, plant, electricity substation and low-voltage switch room) and 29 car parking spaces.
