One of Ireland's biggest construction sector businesses, the building materials group Readymix - which trades as Cemex Ireland - is in discussions that could lead to a takeover offer.
The company is a high profile building sector firm, making and supplying goods and services used in the construction industry.
While mainly involved in producing and delivering sand, stone and gravel, it is also into the manufacture of ready mixed concrete and mortar, and concrete blocks.
But the possible takeover comes as Readymix struggles amid poor trading volumes and ongoing pressure on prices in all of its product markets.
Although it is owned by Cemex of Mexico - a global leader in building materials supplies - and a leading cement producer, Readymix reported a loss of €6.6 million for the first six months of the year in August.
