Builders in the North West are hoping for a minor fillip soon with news that Buncrana Town Council has been told that work to secure land for improvement works on the Aghilly Road is making progress.
Discussions on drawing up Compulsory Purchase Orders are at an advanced stage, although the local news radio station, Highland Radio, has reported that Council members were not happy with the pace of progress.
They said that Mayor Cllr Padraig Mac Lochlainn believed that the project has been delayed so often it is now embarrassing.
In other building news from the region, Donegal County Council is to begin developing a new halting site for Travellers at Elaghbeg in Inishowen.
Work is due to start early next year on the contract and the new site will eventually replace the site at Lisfannon outside Buncrana.
It is thought that a legal dispute over ownership of part of the Elaghbeg site has yet to be resolved, but the rest of the site can be developed while that issue is outstanding.
