Building products manufacturer Steadmans will celebrate its centenary year in 2011 and the company will use the occasion to remember its heritage and look forward to continued growth and innovation.
Steadmans was established in 1911 in Warnell, Carlisle, when George Steadman set up Caldbeck's blacksmith to serve the local agricultural community. The family business grew in stature each year, becoming a major supplier to the construction and agricultural industries.
Steadmans opened further facilities in Livingston, Scotland, and Banbridge, Northern Ireland, and now benefits from the support of SIG which acquired the business in 2008. Today, the company employs 150 people and manufactures a wide range of products including insulated roof and wall panels, profiled metal cladding, cold rolled structural sections and ancilliary components.
Steadmans' Sales and Marketing Director, Ian Hodgson, said: "We have a great deal of activity planned throughout our centenary year that will involve our people, customers, suppliers and the local community. It provides us with a great opportunity to look back at where we have come from and where we are going to take the business.
"In 2011, we will expand further into the South of England whilst also introducing some innovative new products for the industrial, commercial and agricultural sectors. These are exciting times at Steadmans and we are looking forward to the year ahead."
