A new control room and quality assurance laboratory is to provide a modest boost for the building trade in Co Dublin.

Diageo Ireland Holdings have appointed a contractor privately for the works involved with the construction of a new control room and quality assurance laboratory on the site known as Diageo Global Supply at St James Gate, Dublin 8.

The website, www.unearthore.com said the development will involve demolition works to the existing control room and workshop and the construction of a new extension incorporating the new control room, quality assurance laboratory and associated siteworks.

The approved extension will contain support offices on the first floor above the laboratory with associated toilets, break out area and storage in a new floor area of 897 square metres.

Plans include an air handling plant, which will be located on the roof of the new extension, and a galvanised metal escape stair will be fitted to the rear of the extension from the first floor offices.

A new laboratory extraction vent is to be fitted to the southern elevation of the existing building and will project three metres above the current roof level of the fifth floor.

The new extension will be finished in reconstituted stone cladding, to selected finish and colour with sealed double glazed anodised aluminium units forming windows and an entrance foyer.

Work is due to commence on site shortly with the architect being RKD in Dublin.
