There's a multi-modal improvement scheme set to get underway at Bothar Na dTreabh on Galway's N6.
A proposed ground investigation contract is to include the excavation of 63 slit trenches on roads, footways, cycle ways, verges, green areas and roundabout central islands along approximately 6.2 km of national road (N6) to determine type, number, location and depth of services. Also required will be eight trial holes to be excavated, seven California bearing ratio tests and one dynamic probing of the ground at the foot of an embankment.
Also required will be the contractor to take on the role of 'PSCS' and the contractor will also be responsible for traffic management along a heavily trafficked route.
The contract must be completed within one month of appointment.
According to the website, www.unearthore.com the time limit for receipt of completed tenders is 4 April and they should go to Jim Molloy, Galway City Council, Galway Transportation Unit, City Hall, College Road, Galway by that date.
