Cavan Debates New Tesco Store

Plans are moving ahead for the construction of a new Tesco store in Co Cavan.

Cavan Chamber of Commerce is holding a public meeting for opinion on the prospect of the sale of land for a Tesco Superstore in Cavan town.

Councillors have already approved the sale of two acres of land to the supermarket chain for €2m and are set to make a decision next week on the planning issue - having failed to reach agreement - due to what they said was a lack of clarity about the proposed plans.

The website www.unearthore.com revealed that if it goes ahead, the new Tesco will be 70,000ft and be built at Kilnebebber, in the Tullymongan Lower area of the town.
