Auction Portal Anticipates African Growth

Online auction website www.mrmachinery.com is predicting the market for used plant, machinery and equipment will continue to grow across Africa.

New registered users on the portal from Africa in the first quarter of 2011 were a staggering 300% higher than during the same period last year, as the demand for high-quality used machinery continued to increase from construction companies and the oil industry.

“At one of our recent fortnightly reserved auctions, an excavator that had an initial estimated price of around £30,000 was sold to a bidder in Nigeria for a total of £42,000 plus shipping,” Mark Bacon, Managing Director of Mr Machinery revealed. “Nigeria – and Africa as a whole for that matter – has huge growth potential for the used plant and equipment market in the coming months and years, due to an increase in construction projects, and oil exploration in particular.”

As well as the emerging African audience, www.mrmachinery.com, is also proving popular in a number of other international arenas. Earlier this year, the company appointed Territory Managers to cater for the Scandinavian and Middle-Eastern markets – in addition to its ongoing presence in the UK, Ireland, Belgium and Spain – while bidders in some of its most recent online machinery auctions have come as far afield as the USA, Hong Kong and Australia.

Mr Machinery is a dedicated online portal offering a unique platform for the sale and purchase of used plant machinery. Founded in 2007, the organisation has a global audience across more than 70 countries worldwide and currently attracts approximately 60,000 unique users to its every year. With extensive experience within the heavy equipment and logistics industries, the team provides both buyers and sellers a professional, personal and reliable service.
