The main contractor has been appointed for the construction and improvement of roads in Waterford.
According to www.unearthore.com the contract involves working over 5kms of the National Primary (N25), in Waterford. The site extends for 1 km east of Kilongford Bridge heading westbound through The Sweep to a point 1km east of the junction N25/ L6103 at Pulla.
The development will see the N25 getting pavement overlay and repairs.
In order to do this the main contractor, Dan Morrissey (Ireland) will be planning out 150mm on defective sections of road and replacing with binder course (CL906). A full overlay of between 100mm – 145mm consisting of 60mm – 105mm binder course (CL906) will then be overlaid with 40mm Hot Rolled Asphalt.
Road studs will also be removed and replaced with new studs. Junction regulating works and accommodation developments to entrances and lay-bys are also included.
A road closure is not permitted but a Site Specific Traffic Management Plan is required (road works speed limit will be put in place).
Main construction work commenced on site during late August, 2011 and the contract period is estimated at 4 months. The cost of the scheme is in the region of €500,000.
