A prominent Enniskillen business will be closing its doors soon after over a decade of trading.
Café Cellini, on East Bridge Street, is closing to make way for something much bigger and better in the coming months – Enniskillen's first nightclub complex.
For owner Leslie Wilkins, it's the culmination of five years of hard work. Work on the building will start next month as part of an ambitious project to transform the building into a top nightspot. The café is expected to remain open for the next two weeks before closing for good.
"We've had these plans on the go for five years now. I think the site lends itself much better to a nightclub - it's too large for a coffee shop," said Mr Wilkins.
Due to the economic climate, alterations have been made to Leslie's original vision for the property. There have been changes to the original plans for the complex with the property being renovated rather extended.
"There's not the money out there and in the current climate, it's wasn't wise," Mr Wilson said.
Leslie explained that because the building will no longer be made larger through the extensions, the new night spot will no longer include a restaurant. It will be 'pure nightclub'.
However the revamped building will still contain three floors for guests and an outside bar to hold 250 people, under the bridge on the river bank beside the property. An opening date has been set for Valentine's Day in 2012.
Mr Wilson is also happy to announce the opening of a new coffee shop, a decision he came to just a few days ago.
The new shop will be titled 'Leslie's To Go' and will open in the empty unit on East Bridge Street, beside Hanna & Fallis solicitors.
Compared to Cafe Cellini, it will feature a different take-out coffee format with casual seating available. It will open in the middle of September 2012.
