NI Water says has announced a £7m investment for the water supply infrastructure in the greater Cookstown area, Co. Tyrone.
This programme of improvements is set to get underway in late September 2011 and will last approximately 12 months.
The work is good news for the area and will involve the replacement of approximately 110km of water mains which will dramatically improve the quality, reliability and flexibility of water supply, while also reducing leakage.
The work will take place in two phases, with one phase focusing on the area around Moneymore, including work taking place in the Loup and Orritor areas.
The second phase will centre on the rest of the Cookstown District, with work taking place in areas such as the settlements of Kingsmills, Dunnamore and The Rock.
Farrans Utilities have been appointed to undertake the works involved.
